Who Am I?

My name is Victoria, and I am the creator behind the Youtube channel Electric Ghosts.

I am interested in the why of themed entertainment. I explore the historical and cultural contexts that led to the development of particular theme park rides and other attractions. Themed entertainment is a huge cultural force that has a lasting impact on how people see and experience the world, and it's worth examining it with the same rigour we would see applied to a book or a film.

I hate the word content and the phrase content creator. I want people to engage with my videos enthusiastically and authentically, not as part of an endless churn of distractions. I post them on Youtube though - but hey, we all have to make deals with the devil sometimes!

Don't call yourself a "consumer" either, you're better than that!

I had my first nightmare about a theme park ride around the age of seven, and I haven't really been the same since. I still dream about tracks leading off into the darkness and fibreglass rocks. When I'm not researching for upcoming videos I'm busy with my post-graduate degree in History. I also enjoy visiting museums, sitting quietly in decaying structures, and knitting.

And no, my favourite ride is not The Haunted Mansion, why would you think that?
